Wetzel Estate Wines
Wetzel Family of Wines (including the Wetzel Estate, Chateau Bianca, Opulent brands), was established in 1990. The winery and vineyard are nestled in Oregon’s scenic Willamette Valley.
A Brief History of Wetzel Estate Winery
Four generations of winemaking tradition, commencing in Germany and culminating in Oregon, has resulted in award-winning, limited-production wines with consistently intense flavor profiles.
Wine produced at the Estate vineyard benefits from a nearly perfect location: the vines are planted to true magnetic north for maximum sun exposure and at an ideal elevation. Located within the Van Duzer Corridor A.V.A. (American Viticulture Area), this optimal location affords exposure to the maritime air currents which maintains cooler temperatures, allowing for longer fruit hang time and development of the signature flavor profiles. In addition, this region is comprised of well-drained sedimentary soil with high mineral content, a result of the Missoula floods. The vineyard is L.I.V.E. Certified, one of the most stringent sustainability standards for vineyards of the Pacific Northwest.
The brands have widespread domestic and international distribution. Varietals produced include Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Marechal Foch, Chardonnay, and some limited-production specialty products including Sparkling Wines, a Ruby Port, Vin de Glace and Northwest Comfort–the Wetzel family’s proprietary Gluhwein recipe.
